Mayor
Welcome to Roosevelt, the energy hub of Utah. The Roosevelt City Council and I welcome you to the Uintah Basin and hope you have an enjoyable stay while you’re here. We’ve designed this site to be a resource for visitors and residents alike. Thinking about starting a business here? Or maybe you want to know where you can get a great hamburger or how to pay your utilities online. This website can answer all those questions. Whether you’re here for a short time or settling in for a while, we are confident you will fall in love with this area like we all have.
There are so many great things to do in the Uintah Basin and Roosevelt is at the heart of it all. If you’re looking for some place to relax and bring the kids for some fun, look no further than the Roosevelt Aquatic Center. This state of the art facility features an indoor and an outdoor pool, diving boards, a lazy river, and a play area in both pools for younger children. It’s a splashy good time no matter what the temperature is outside.
If you’re here during the summer and golf is your game, look no further than the Roosevelt Golf Course. This beautiful 18-hole golf course is meticulously maintained and features a practice putting green and driving range. The front nine features long tree-lined fairways while the back nine is more of links course and features as island green and panoramic views of the area.
Finding the latest blockbuster is easy at one of our three theaters in Roosevelt. The Roosevelt Twin Theatre and the Uinta Theatre are located on our historic main street along Highway 40. The Echo Drive-in is just the place to spend a warm summer night. It is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
You can’t judge a town by its size and that’s certainly true when it comes to health care. Despite being a rural community, Roosevelt is home to the Uintah Basin Medical Center. This full-service hospital features a Level 4 trauma certified emergency room, access to Intermountain Lifeflight and doctors from all specialties to provide for your health care needs while you’re in the Basin.
Education is another point of pride for our community. Roosevelt is home to the Uintah Basin Applied Technology College and Uintah Basin Campus of Utah State University. For the younger children, Duchesne County School District has one high school, a junior high and three elementary schools in Roosevelt. The newest addition to DCSD will be the state of the art Union High School campus, which will be completed in 2018.
The Uintah Basin is home to some of the most beautiful and unique landscapes in the state. Nine-Mile Canyon is just a short drive from Roosevelt and has been called the “world’s longest art gallery.” Most of the rock art in Nine-Mile Canyon was created by the Fremont Indians who lived in this area more than 1,000 years ago.
As you can see, there is a lot more to Roosevelt than meets the eye. These suggestions are just a few of the things that make Roosevelt special. This website has everything you need to make your stay in Roosevelt the best it can be.
Warmly,
Mayor JR Bird
