Chief of Police Mark J. Watkins

Chief Watkins started his career in Carbon County, Utah in 1988 where he was born and raised. Preferring the unique challenges of smaller departments and communities, Watkins moved to the Uintah Basin in February 2000 as the Chief Deputy for the Daggett County Sheriff’s Office. In 2008, he was appointed as the Chief of Police for the City of Naples and spent 12 years there. After a short retirement, the Chief was appointed as the Chief of Police for Roosevelt City Police Department in May 2021 

Chief Watkins has a master’s degree from the University of Phoenix in Criminal Justice Administration and graduated from FBI Command College and the University of Utah’s Law Enforcement Leadership Program. In his 35-plus years of service, Watkins has received the Medal of Valor, Purple Heart, and Medal of Meritorious Service awards.
