[ARCHIVED] Highway construction will impact Roosevelt residents

UDOT Highway Construction

Roosevelt residents will be significantly impacted by highway construction beginning next month.

The Utah Department of Transportation will be an improving an 11-mile section of Highway 40 stretching from the intersection at W 2000 South in the Roosevelt industrial park to approximately 9000 East in Gusher. Construction is scheduled to begin on July 8 and will likely be completed in November or December of this year.

The goal of the project is to preserve and extend the life of the roadway. Work will include removing and replacing two inches of the existing asphalt surface, removing and replacing pedestrian ramps, repairing sections of the Uintah River Bridge in Fort Duchesne, and repairing sections of guardrail.

Work hours will vary with each phase of the project. Crews working outside of Roosevelt and Gusher will operate Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. til 7 p.m. Work taking place within town limits will happen at night between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Contractors will keep access open to properties and cross streets as much as possible. However, there may be times when property and street accesses are closed while crews work directly in front of them.

Residents should be prepared for traffic delays during this project. Traffic will be limited to a single lane with flaggers directing traffic during some work hours. Please plan for enough time to arrive safely at your destination.
