At the Roosevelt City Council meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 19, the city began the process of replacing its administrative team.
City Manager Ryan Snow and Assistant City Manager/Finance Director John Zilles announced their resignations in October. To ensure a smooth transition and continuation of all essential city services, the council voted to approve City Manager Snow’s appointment of Ryan Clayburn as interim Assistant City Manager and Randy Robb as interim Finance Director.
Clayburn is currently employed as the Water Source Director for Roosevelt City. He has filled a number of positions with the city over his years of service and has a strong understanding of the overall functions of the city.
“Ryan Clayburn is a good candidate,” said Snow. “I’d be able to work with him over time so that we had an easy transition. I would recommend him as an interim so that we can start that transition rather than wait and have a gap.”
Robb is currently employed as the Accounts Receivable Technician and has been extensively cross trained in the financial management of the city.
“Randy is doing a great job,” said Snow. “At this point, he has been trained to take on payroll and a lot of the daily financials.”
The expectation is that Clayburn and Robb will serve in their positions until the newly elected Roosevelt City Council takes office and a new City Manager is appointed by them. At that time, the new manager will formally hire an Assistant City Manager and Finance Director of his or her choice.
The council also took steps to begin the process of hiring a new City Manager. They voted to select a broker to assist with a nationwide search for a qualified city manager. A small subcommittee was created to review potential brokers and bring a recommendation to the council at their next meeting on Dec. 17.
Roosevelt City wishes to assure residents that the day-to-day business of the city will continue to run smoothly during this period of transition.
