Parks Department Award

Roosevelt City was honored to receive an award in recognition of the ice rink at Constitution Park during the Roosevelt Business Alliance meeting on Tuesday, February 9.

"This was a team effort," said Parks Supervisor Dustin Glines. "We had so much support from the community, especially the big donations from STRATA, L&L Motor, and the Roosevelt Arts, Parks, and Recreation Committee. It took a team effort to make this happen."

The ice skating rink opened on January 15, 2021. It will remain open as long as the weather stays cold enough to have ice and is always free to the public. Everyone in the community is welcome to bring their own skates and come out for some fun.

"Since the rink opened, we've had people there every single day," said Glines. "It's been huge for the community. And the best part is that we'll bring it back every year."

The award was presented by Duchesne County Commissioner Irene Hansen who praised the project and its partners.

"If you haven't been up there yet, you need to go," said Commissioner Hansen. "It looks like a scene out of a movie. We so appreciate Roosevelt City for being willing to go out and ask for help to make things happen that benefit our community."

"It was really the Arts, Parks, and Rec Committee that got the ball rolling last year," said Assistant City Manager Ryan Clayburn. "Our guys were able to take that momentum and create something that will come back every winter. We're excited about it."

Roosevelt City appreciates the amazing work by the Parks and Recreation Staff and the partnerships with STRATA NETWORKS, L&L Motor Company, and the Roosevelt Arts, Parks, & Recreation Committee that made the ice rink possible.
